Brightmoor Family Grille

We eat black owned or brown owned all the time. Tried Brightmoor Family Grille after The Hungry Black Man highly recommend it. It was definitely worth the the try. It’s an old coney turned into a soul food/Jamaican restaurant. The menu has a lot of choices for all day dining. We went for lunch yesterday. We got fried turkey chops with sweet potatoes, collard greens and Mac and cheese. Jerk chicken, oxtails and cabbage. Everything was good. Even the greens that the owner said it’s not his usual, they were better than most. All the food was lightly season which is fine. The fried turkey chop wasn’t dry and was crispy. The jerk chicken was juicy and the sauce was good. The sauce was sweet with a spicy finish. The sweet potatoes were cooked with a lot of butter or butter extract bc you can taste it. The Mac and cheese was creamy with a little cheese pull. It’s some of the best I’ve had in the city. The oxtail was the star of the menu. They were tender, meaty, flavorful, nice sizes. Paid 17 for 5 nice size tails. They supposed to be Jamaican but they don’t taste it. More towards the soul food side IMO. The kool aid was the only bad thing. It was nasty but overall I give them 8.5/10. Will make this one of my new soul food favorites.

I had the oxtail pizza. D*** It good as hell. The place was clean. The service was great. Oh, this gonna be my number one restaurant for now on. Y'all, gots to get there.

Brightmoor Family Grille is a clean restaurant. Its staff are polite and professional. The menu has a variety of options. I had turkey meat loaf, cabbage, peas, vegetable medley, rice, plantains, and a Ting drink. I forgot to take a picture of my food upon delivery, but I had so much leftover. This picture does no justice for the beauty of the plated meal.My mother had the oxtails, cabbage, mac and cheese, and hot ginger tea. Everything was served hot and fresh.Service time was reasonable, from ordering to being served.The next time I'm in Detroit, I will visit Brightmoor Family Grill again.

One of the best dining experiences I’ve had recently. The food and service are absolutely fantastic. Oxtail pizza is unique and delicious. Catfish was perfectly fried. Loved the greens & macaroni and cheese. Their jerk chicken pasta (Rasta Pasta) was mind blowing. Service was so friendly and helpful. This place is a gem.

My birthday was yesterday so I’d thought I’d treat myself. First time I saw that oxtail pizza on IG I knew I had to try it! I came from the east and it was definitely worth it!! The jerked chicken wrap also slaps but not like that pizza, there’s a lite sweat tangy sauce they drizzle on the pizza (as pictured). Chef’s Kiss! The owner was out in the lobby, very nice and welcoming!They also decorated for Valentine’s Day!A great first impression overall!

The turkey meatloaf boasted a delightful balance of savory flavors with a hint of sweetness that left me wanting more. The greens were fresh and vibrant, and the rice and peas were a hearty, comforting side dish.The presentation was as impressive as the taste—my dish was thoughtfully plated, reflecting the care and attention put into every detail. Special kudos to owner Anthony, whose warm welcome and professional demeanor made the dining experience even more enjoyable.
